I'm not sure about all games from Steam, but I've discovered you actually don't need a license to play most games. Again, this isn't a concern with PZ, though, because it's DRM-free and doesn't require Steam to play in any way. The other advantage would be that on Steam you technically don't own your games, just a license to them, so if anything bad should happen to Valve you basically stop 'owning' your games. There's lots of other reasons people don't like Steam, but most of them are bad or just petty. But yes, that's essentially the only advantage. Technically the game is DRM-free on Steam as well, though you do require the client to download it/update it. However these offers are available for only 5 days as of now and connecting your account will take a lot of time so if you're interested in owning Project Zomboid or any other of the above games on GOG you have to act fast!
